What Bloggers Need To Stop Doing!
Playing The Comparison Game
I’m sure we all read that word and think, “easier said than done!” and you’re absolutely right. It is a very slippery slope once you start the comparison game. However, if you want to be successful at blogging or social media (and if you’re here I know you do) then you’re going to have to stop beating yourself up every time you scroll through your feed. How is it as bloggers we know the planning, editing and false reality behind an image but yet we can look at someone’s post and be like … “wow! She’s perfect! Look at her feed.” STOP. No one is perfect and we all know the work she probably took to get that photo - several images later. We are all on our own journeys! Don’t compare someone’s 5 years of being a full-time blogger to your 1st year just starting out.
The successful bloggers know that the more they compare and focus on their peers success the less work they will put into their own.
Battling With The Algorithm
We may as well que the famous Britney Spears song “Slave For You” Because if you’re a blogger or influencer...that’s how you feel about the algorithm. When you’re using huge platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and all the rest! You are going to feel like a slave to the algorithm. We tend to find ourselves in an uproar when there is a slight change to the algorithm. We blame everything on it! Why are my likes down? Algorithm. Why am I not getting engagement on my photos? Algorithm. Why is my follower count so low? Algorithm.
I’m here to burst that bubble and tell you that yes, the algorithm can be a real pain and it often feels like you’re in some weird dance with it but successful bloggers find ways to break it. They utilize other platforms (not just one), and they work hard to engage on social media. This is probably the easiest way to see traction on your social media page or blog - BE SOCIAL. Easy right? Some people post photos and think okay… where is everyone? Well, do the work! Comment, like others photos and stay consistent. Don’t let the algorithm be the reason why you’re not successful. I promise you got this!
You Can’t Win Them All
I struggle with this one personally. When you are putting yourself out there for the world to see (especially strangers) you just want to be liked! You want others to truly love your photos and opinions. It’s human for us to crave that likeness from others. But, as some of you have come across...not everyone is going to be your cup of tea and vise versa.
We all have different styles, opinions and we will not all agree and that is okay. Don’t let a negative comment or a lost follower bring down your entire attitude on blogging or ruin your day. It’s not worth it! Successful bloggers have high traffic pages and receive TONS of negative, spiteful and downright awful comments from strangers and they continue to ignore the negativity and keep on thriving.
If you needed a sign or a little pep talk...here it is! Don’t give up. This industry is tough but so are you! Keep your blinders on. Don’t pay too much attention to what others are doing. Focus on your path and your path only. Keep making strides towards your goal and success will be banging on your door ready to greet you.
