Walking Through Fear With Katharine!

Hello fellow blogger babes! Kat here (aka @classicallykatharine) I’m so excited to be a guest writer this month. 

During this uncertain and frankly, scary time I think it is so important to know how to manage stress and fear. Walking through fear with positivity and the belief that you will be okay is something that helps me in many facets of my life.

I used to be someone who always doubted myself, and was way too afraid to try anything new in fear I would fail. However, as I’ve gotten older I have learned to push through that fear. Walking through fear has gotten me so much farther in life and I am so grateful I have made the decision to always push myself, even when I may feel afraid.

I held off on starting a blog for years because I feared I wasn’t pretty, skinny or interesting enough. I wondered if anyone would want to hear what I have to say?! But finally, a little over a year ago I decided to start my blog, and I am SO glad I did! Now I share about fashion and body positivity on my platform. I find it so helpful when other women open up about their struggles, it makes these platforms so much more relatable. So I am slowly starting to open up, and I notice when I do I get great feedback. But it’s a journey, and I am still working on being my most genuine self online.

Since starting my blogging journey not only have I gained more self confidence, I have also made great connections with other fabulous ladies (shoutout BLB babes!) who share common interests. My first BLB event I showed up alone and nervous, but was quickly greeted so many kind women. I left feeling so happy, and joined shortly after!

Nothing worth having comes easily, or without going outside of your comfort zone. My comfort zone held me back for way too long! Trust me, I still get insecure and fearful, but when I do I remind myself of how I feel after walking through that fear- which is awesome! Since I’ve made the decision to be “fearless” I have gotten a promotion, a new job, made new friends, started my blog…the list goes on!

So if you’re doubting yourself, just remember you are special because there is no one else like you, and that’s a powerful thing! Start that blog, apply to that job, take that trip! I promise once you start pushing the limits of your comfort zone amazing things will happen.

My tips for overcoming self-doubt and fear:

  1. Ask yourself: What’s the worst that can happen? 

  2. If you fail- DON’T give up- DO try again!

  3. Have goals and a plan on how to achieve them

  4. Surround yourself with positive and uplifting people

  5. Self affirmations

  6. Know you're self worth and who you are, don’t let anyone make you feel badly for being yourself!
