NYFW: What to Pack
So you’re getting ready to embark on a glamorous week in New York City but before you can Carrie Bradshaw your way down the street you need to pack. So ladies, get your suitcase or several bags of luggage ready because we have your packing list must-haves!
And before we dive right into the essentials you must know what is now trending. I’ve gone ahead and done a little research on what you’ll be seeing strolling around the streets of NYC this September.
Your Trend Report
Cat eye specs:
We can thank trend setters, Rihanna and Gigi Hadid for this one. These two have been loving this trend and we are also on board! Frames are getting smaller but making a BIG statement. Think bold, exaggerated silhouettes and retro chic!
It’s all about maximum drama from the neck up! The baubles and tassels are getting supersized and we are loving it. Personally, this is one of my favorite trends (Jessy). I adore seeing a cute up-do and then a pair of gorgeous statement earrings to match. Celebrity royalty such as, Queen B (Beyonce) and Selena Gomez have been rocking this trend throughout 2018.
The cold shoulder top:
This trend may just be immortal! Not only do we have the classic spring and summer cold shoulder tops. We even have them for sweater weather season. Maybe they keep standing the test of time because they in fact are that amazing.
Classic menswear patterns:
Who runs the world? Girls. Even in menswear patterns we are still taking over and looking beautiful while doing it. This trend is going to be sticking around for fall and it’s oh so chic! This trend was first spotted in London and who doesn’t love a fashion forward Brit? Cause here at Bloggers Live Boston in the words of Rachel Zoe, “I die.” for some brilliant London fashion.
Vinyl pants and well...everything:
Designers such as Marc Jacobs, Chanel, and Valentino have all hopped on board this trend and soon enough so did everyone else! Vinyl has been seen parading all around the streets of New York and Paris. Now, if you’re not able to splurge on some designer vinyl goods then be sure to take a look at Asos, TopShop and Zara because you’ll be able to take the trend for a test drive without having to sell a kidney.
Some are calling these the “ugly sneakers” or “dad shoes” but oddly enough they’re trending! Designers such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga all have their own take on the chunky kicks and they’re selling like hotcakes some around $1,000 so... if you’re not ready to make that kind of commitment you’re able to find similar styles for a fraction of the cost from brands such as, Nike, New Balance, Zara, and Salomon.
Now you know what is trending it’s time to fill you in on the basics for NYFW.
Classic pumps (black)
Keep them neutral that way they can go with anything and everything whether you’re off to a meeting, brunch or a show.
Everyone should have a classic blazer in their closet. These jackets are so easy to dress up or down and it is the easiest way to look effortlessly chic.
Take a look at your schedule of events and shows during the week. Plan your dresses accordingly! You can’t go wrong with a cocktail dress when you need to be a little more dressed up.
These just might be my favorite item ever. They’re comfy and can also be dressed up with a pair of pumps or down with cute sneakers or flats.
These will be a lifesaver when your feet feel like they’re about to fall off. I saw some girls keep them in their bags last year for a quick change on the go.
External battery charger
It’s a MUST! You’re going to want to capture every moment of NYFW and you don’t want your battery to die right in the middle of something amazing and you don’t want to be the girl stressed out with her USB phone cord trying to find a power source and then wait for it to charge.
Snacks for the hotel room
NYC is expensive! You’re going to want to bring some snacks to stock in your mini fridge as well as in your purse for on the go.
Stay hydrated! I know during Fashion Week the majority of the time body was made up of mostly coffee and coffee and running around sweating leads to dehydration and no one wants that so drink up!
Face masks (and some for friends!)
Everyone loves a good face mask and prepping your skin for flawless makeup application is a must. A little tip: During this important week try to stay away from any “clay” masks. These masks work wonders but they help to draw out impurities which means they’ll be bringing all that nasty stuff to the service to heal! Instead, lean towards a hydration or redness calming mask for the best glow.
