Why did you start a blog?
I was starting to post pictures to my Instagram to make my account an “Instablog.” One day I realized that I should create a real blog so I could have more to say than just the picture caption.
What does your blog cover?
My blog covers what most bloggers post about, beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I add my own touch to the topics. I write reviews on products, give style tips for a look for less, my favorite makeup products, create music playlists, review concerts and more. I am also a certified makeup artist, so I try to have my mua part of me come out on my makeup/beauty posts. The list goes on and on.
What encouragement would you give new bloggers/those who are interested in starting?
If you are thinking of creating a blog, think about the topics you are going to post about; if it bores you then it might bore someone else. Also, research different web platforms, I wish I picked a different site to have my blog on when I started. I love the content I create but, I wish I had a different platform to look more professional.
What struggles do you encounter?
For me, I struggle with time to sit down and have all my focus on creating content. I sometimes struggle with thinking of things to post about, what pictures to take.
Favorite/least favorite part of blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is the writing. Since I started my blog, my writing style has gone up on the scale of good. I didn’t used to like writing and now I enjoy it. My least favorite thing about blogging would be like I said before, having time to write; having a schedule for my blog. That is one of my goals for this year.
How did you come up with your name?
How did I pick my name for my blog? Honestly, it just popped into my head. I’m an iced coffee addict, I drink it in the winter. And, sunflowers are my favorite flower. It sounded great in my head and it looked good on paper. So, that is how Iced Coffee and Sunflowers was born.
How long have you been blogging?
I haven’t been blogging long. My first post was May 30th, so almost basically June. I cannot wait what this year and the next and next and so on has in store.
What has been your greatest achievement in this industry? Personal or professional
I have two achievements in this industry. The first achievement in would be being featured two times in the Boston Voyager. The first time was for being featured as an “up and coming Influencer.” It was such a big deal because I wasn’t blogging for long when they contacted me for the feature. The second time, they asked if I wanted to do an interview with them for their series “The Trailblazers: Rewriting the Narrative.” Another achievement would be being invited to go to NYFW as a blogger/influencer. That has always been a dream of mine, to go to NYFW. That is where I met the BLB girls. It was great meeting them and seeing fellow Boston bloggers at NYFW.
Who are some bloggers/influencers or creators in general that inspire you?
Some bloggers/influencers that inspire me would be Ashley Robertson, she is a lifestyle and beauty blogger from Dallas. Krystal Sutherland from Canada, she is mostly known as Krystal Clear Makeup on YouTube; she is a makeup artist and we both graduated from the same makeup school. Kathleen Post, she is a fashion and lifestyle blogger from Indianapolis. Lastly, of course, the BLB girls, Jess and Leanne. Their styles make me inspired to go out of my comfort zone.
What do you hope you’ll get out of being a Bloggers Live Boston member?
What I hope to get out of being a member of BLB would be that I hope to meet some of the bloggers in
